Westlaw

WestLaw is the predominant provider of online legal resources and ALU's primary library of legal resources. In addition to the textbooks and casebooks that you use in class, WestLaw can greatly improve your understanding of the concepts covered in class. All ALU students receive a WestLaw account and can access their WestLaw account at home through their internet provider. Learn more about WestLaw with interactive tours and tutorials .

The WestLaw portal:

  • provides functions to retrieve a specific document by citation, by title or with Natural Language.
  • leads you through a fast-paced look at the most current, accurate and comprehensive way of seeing if a case or statute is good law.
  • identifies key numbers and terms most relevant to your legal issue for precise searching.
  • takes care of students from learning to brief cases to preparing for class to studying for finals.

CALI (The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction)

CALI is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit consortium of law schools that researches and develops computer-mediated legal instruction and supports institutions and individuals using technology and distance learning in legal education.

The system has extensive lessons in areas of Contracts and Real Property, exercises and subject matter for many other law school classes, materials useful in bar prep activities, and iPod Podcasts of very interesting and useful discussions on legal doctrine and procedure.
